Desperately Seeking Canon Digital Photo Professional 3.5

After reading this review for my newest lens, Canon’s EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, I was intrigued. The author mentioned that Canon’s RAW processing software, Digital Photo Professional (DPP), had the ability to correct lens distortion and chromatic aberration… two features I have been dying for, but are not in any version of DPP that I knew of.

It turns out that that is because a new version of DPP (version 3.5) has shipped but is only available with Canon’s new EOS 50D DSLRs. They haven’t put it on their website for download yet.

Lucky for us, it appears some generous person in Taiwan has posted the installer for DPP 3.5 on Rapidshare. I downloaded it, installed it and it works great. No more lens distortion or chromatic aberration for me!

Download it here (63 Mb). Sorry Mac fans, it’s Windows-only.

I don't understand how to install the program after downloading the file... Could I be told how to do so?

You can also download it directly from Canon site (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?ac...). You will find here the last version updater. If you don't have any DPP installed, you juste need to add the \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Canon\DPP in regedit and then start the installer. Enjoy!
  • After clicking the "Download it here" link, click the "Free User" button. Then wait. A download button will appear after the countdown finishes. Click that and you've got it.
  • Derek, you are awesome man. I moved to a different location and couldn't find my original disc so I went soul searching and found your link. Great find man. I've download the software and it works.
  • Glad I could help, koistop!
  • I'm going to link your article here from some other sites because there's a lot of folks looking for this very same download link. Tell ya man, I moved to a different location and couldn't find my original disc. I mainly use this software to edit my koi which I own at www.koistop.com and life has been hell because you can't download it from canon at all. You can only download the updater. Without the orginal disc, it is useless.
